Product Owner – Plan & Build PPM
Are you passionate about shaping how we plan, fund, and deliver Technology efforts? If so, we have two Product Owner roles that will focus on the PPM capabilities that power our Plan & Build lifecycle and help define the future of portfolio and financial management across Nationwide Technology.
We are looking to fill 2 positions. In this role, you will become a subject matter expert in PPM tooling and practices, partnering closely with leaders from product, finance, and delivery to unlock better visibility, smarter decisions, and more consistent outcomes.
Key Focus Areas
Own the PPM product vision, roadmap, and backlog
Partner with stakeholder to create and maintain the vision for portfolio and project management experience
Align PPM capabilities to Nationwide’s product operating model
Collaborate with the Plan & Build modernization team to design how PPM capabilities evolve
Manage and prioritize backlogs for portfolio, resource, timesheet, and financial planning capabilities in Smartsheet and Planview
Drive standards, governance, and education for PPM
Become the go‑to SME on how portfolio planning, financial forecasting, Agile Costing, and capacity planning are executed in our tools.
Establish and maintain standard configurations, usage patterns, and golden paths for portfolio and project management.
Create and curate education materials, job aids, and office hours that help teams adopt consistent, outcome‑oriented PPM practices.

As a Technology Analyst you will partner with the business to understand business needs and outcomes as well as provide all types of analysis skills related to understanding and meeting business outcomes. You will translate business outcomes into solution requirements using techniques such as facilitation and visual management. A Technology Analyst should have broad technology and analysis experience including: facilitation with large stakeholder groups, managing the complete requirements lifecycle, conducting structured analysis using both quantitative and qualitative techniques, analyzing data and application suites, and problem-solving using a collaborative style. Technology Analysts are engaged in work efforts at all scales ranging from minor defect fixes and enhancements to development of new applications. You will also work on all types of solution approaches (e.g. custom development, package implementation) and domains (e.g. all application types, data warehouses, Web, and Cloud).

With strong knowledge, partners with the business leaders and other technology professionals to understand business needs and outcomes.
Translates multiple business outcomes into solution requirements.
Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Manages complex requirements and ensure business alignment using facilitation and visual management techniques.
Leads and/or executes the preparation of detailed documentation and clarifies moderate to complex work products requirements.
Provides complex analysis related to understanding and meeting business outcomes.
Drives with others to verify, trace and manage functional and non-functional requirements.
Possess a strong understanding of the applications used to support the business in a specific Business Solution Area(s) (BSA).
Conducts multiple quality improvements by providing complex analysis of relevant data.
Drives the complete requirements lifecycle from idea through implementation.
Leads requirement sessions with business leaders and other technology professionals using visual facilitation techniques.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Technology Manager or Director.
Typical Skills and Experiences:
Education: Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field is preferred.
License/Certification/Designation: Technology certifications or designation are not required but encouraged.
Experience: Eight years of relevant work experience including software delivery or educational experience within a technology domain. Experience with delivering Technology and/or business solutions across industries, platforms and/or lines of business (LOB) within the insurance and/or financial services industries. Demonstrated capability in managing the requirements lifecycle, including facilitation, elicitation, and documenting requirements.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Master analytical and communication skills, knowledge of planning. Ability to influence, negotiate and set priorities needed. Ability to facilitate requirement sessions using visual techniques with senior leaders. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.
Other criteria, including leadership or technical skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.
